SA Guide Dogs wags tails with Montecasino.
It was love at first sight for Mike Page, Operations Director and Complex General Manager of Montecasino, when he met two of the SA Guide Dogs Association’s latest recruits – Bella and Mario – the adorable pups who will give two visually impaired individuals their hearts and, more importantly, their eyes.
Montecasino has a long-standing relationship with the SA Guide Dogs Association and is the proud venue partner for the annual SA Guide Dogs Ball. As a Titanium Sponsor, Montecasino’s executive management team was given the honour of proposing names for the puppies, with the final decision left in the hands of the SA Guide Dogs Naming Committee. Bella (meaning ‘beautiful’ in Italian) is a 15-month old black female Labrador and Mario (named after the god, Mars) is a 3-month old yellow male Labrador. Both puppies are still with their puppy raisers in various stages of their training.
Mike Page says, “My hope is that Bella and Mario touch the hearts of other corporates so they are inspired to donate towards this very worthy cause so that we can, as a collective, make a difference to the lives of the visually impaired.”
Gail Glover, CEO of SA Guide Dogs Association, says, “SA Guide-Dog’s mission is to improve the quality of life of the visually and physically impaired by providing independence, mobility, companionship and dignity to all who need it. Our partners, such as Montecasino, understand and appreciate the joy that comes from witnessing a playful, beautiful pup grow into a responsible, loving partner and friend for life.”
