Montecasino Leads Local Efforts To Improve Fourways Traffic Flow

Fourways, Johannesburg – 27 November 2024

Montecasino, Johannesburg’s premier entertainment destination, in association with the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport, has launched the ground-breaking “Adopt and Protect A Robot” campaign. This innovative public-private partnership is designed to address persistent challenges with traffic signals across Gauteng, including traffic congestion, vandalism, and the deterioration of critical road infrastructure.

The campaign seeks to establish a dynamic collaboration between government, private sector stakeholders, and local communities, ensuring consistent traffic signal functionality and improved road safety. By leveraging these partnerships, the initiative aims to tackle urban traffic challenges and promote a sustainable and community-centred approach to service delivery.

As a key contributor to the campaign, Montecasino has commanded a project to repair and secure three vital traffic light intersections surrounding its premises: Winnie Mandela Drive, Montecasino Boulevard, and Witkoppen Road.

This restoration effort, completed in just three days by a dedicated team of 24 professionals, has significantly improved traffic flow for commuters travelling from Steyn City, North Riding, Lone Hill, Magaliessig and Chartwell. To safeguard these critical traffic points, Montecasino has encased cables in concrete for added protection and relocated signal controllers to undisclosed, secure locations monitored around the clock by its security team.

Recognizing the broader need for intervention, Montecasino is also extending its efforts to restore the main intersection at the N1 Bypass, alleviating congestion for travellers between Bryanston and Fourways.

Montecasino’s Director of Operations, Mike Page, expressed pride in the property’s involvement:
“As a cornerstone of the Fourways community, Montecasino remains deeply committed to enhancing the quality of life for all who live, work, and visit here. Our participation in this campaign is a reflection of our ongoing promise to create meaningful, positive change for the people of Fourways.”

Montecasino’s initiatives exemplify the campaign’s vision of sustainable, community-focused solutions and serve as a call to action for other businesses and community members to join in creating a safer, more efficient Fourways.
